St. Mary was born to parents who loved God very much.
She served in the temple from the time she was three years old. When she grew up, God sent her to live with St. Joseph.
One day, Archangel Gabriel, the messenger of God, came to St. Mary. He told her that because of her obedience and humility, she would be the mother of the Son of God, Jesus Christ.
St. Mary accepted what the angel told her saying “Let it be to me according to your word.” This meant that she was willing to serve God in whatever way He asked of her.
Even though it was very difficult to watch her son Jesus suffer and die on the cross, St. Mary knew that because of Him, the world would be saved.
St. Mary lived as God’s servant her whole life, and when she died God sent Angels to carry her body up to heaven.
We can all learn from St. Mary’s amazing obedience to do as God asks us, even when it seems hard. Her prayers be with us all.
“If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15)
Christ said to His disciples that if they wanted to show him love, they should obey his teachings. St. Mary was the perfect example of this love. Obedient even in hard times.
